Frontcountry Leadership Training

Welcome to your FLT!

The Frontcountry Leadership Training (FLT) is an entry-level course covers all the basic skills you will need to successfully take youth on car-camping based overnight trips. Skills covered include: camping safety, day-hiking, tent and stove-set up, clothing requirements, nutrition and team building activities. All learning is experiential.

This particular course will be modified to meet Covid-19 Safety Protocols. We will not be staying overnight in the campground, but instead simulating an overnight experience. There will be a virtual pre-trip meeting, a pre-recorded gear orientation accompanied by tutorial videos and, finally, one full day of training on Saturday. We will be following up with you on precautions we are requiring that all participants and instructors take such as wearing face coverings and physically distancing throughout the day.

Bay Area Wilderness Training Course Cancellation Policy: Cancellations received more than 30 days prior to the first day of any workshop allow for a refund of 75% of the total registration fees already paid. If notice of cancellation is given to BAWT 29 to 14 days prior to the first day you may receive a 25% refund. No refunds will be issued for cancellations 13 days or less prior to the first day. A full refund may be given in the event that we cancel a course, unless the participant cancels first. Any course materials received before the start of the course must be returned before you will receive a refund or you will be charged for them. You will be charged a fee for all unreturned course materials.
